About Video :
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a life-saving technique used in emergencies when someone's heartbeat or breathing has stopped. It involves chest compressions and rescue breaths to maintain circulation and oxygen flow to vital organs until professional help arrives. Key steps include checking responsiveness, calling emergency services, performing chest compressions at a rate of 100-120 per minute and a depth of 2 inches for adults, and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) if available. Immediate CPR can double or triple survival chances.
Questions Addressed :
What are the key steps in performing CPR on an adult?
How does the technique for CPR differ between adults, children, and infants?
When should you perform hands-only CPR instead of traditional CPR with rescue breaths?
How do you check for responsiveness and breathing before starting CPR?
What is the recommended compression depth and rate for effective chest compressions?
How do you use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during CPR?
What are the potential risks or complications associated with performing CPR?

jammer had it right!
when you do CPR, you keep it going until EMTs or otherwise higher level medical help arrives.
if someone is unconscious and not breathing, you probably won't bring them back to awareness. the dramatic 'gasping awake' kind of reaction isn't necessarily realistic.
the mechanism of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation is to essentially keep the person's blood somewhat oxygenated and circulating in the absence of breath or heartbeat. you are manually stimulating circulation by squeezing their heart for them via chest compressions. even if they appear to have died, you can prevent long term damage, particularly to the brain, by performing CPR in case they can be revived via more invasive means. even if that means taking turns with other people (because it is tiring to do chest compressions), don't just decide that someone is dead and CPR isn't doing anything. keep it going as long as you know that help is on the way.
if you are by yourself or emergency help is not coming, just keep it going as long as you can.
bonus: if you are ever in a situation where someone has lost an extremity and is bleeding out, use a tourniquet. you really only want to use one when you know that the flesh below it can't be saved because the point of a tourniquet is to cut off blood flow and that usually results in tissue death. use non-stretchy fabric or a belt. there are some ready made tourniquets that have a quick release mechanism built in, if you keep a first aid kit. if you are able to write the time you first applied the tourniquet on the bandage itself, that's really helpful information for EMTs/medics to have.

remember when katniss straight up did not know what what mouth to mouth cpr was? yeah, it added a little bit of comedy to a highly tense situation ("why is finnick kissing peeta" - katniss, a girl who doesn't have it bad for peeta at all and is totally normal about him) but it's such an interesting detail about the varying methods/lifestyles/skills that each district has and what they're trained to deal with because of their district's specialty

I got let go yesterday. And I'd been in the middle of a long multi-day conversation over VMs with my mum about all sorts of highly theoretical stuff we're interested in, like analyzing different types of creativity, and building conscious social spaces and so on. So I had sent her a couple messages in the morning, and then I sent one more after work, which started with "Sorry for the delay, I got briefly distracted from this conversation by losing my job, but I'm back now!" And proceeded to keep rambling enthusiastically about accepting creative inspiration without discriminatory pre-judgement when it comes to you, and all the rest of the stuff we'd been chatting about. Not gonna lie, I enjoyed being able to say that.

You've mentioned wisteria and deathcaps so far, so I'm guessing you're more a fan of plant-based toxins than animal- and metal-based ones like what Suna uses. Do you have a favorite to work with?
Ohohoh. Finally, a good fucking ask. Yes! I use mostly plant and fungus based poisons rather than metallic animal sourced poisons. This is for a variety of reasons. I'll break it down by type. (Editing note, throwing this under a read more cut because I got carried away and wrote an essay. Ino says it's rude to clog people's feeds with unwanted ridiculously long posts.)
Metallic poisons.
These are rare in Konoha because of the elements needed to make these poisons. Suna uses them occasionally but mostly it's Iwa and Kumo that are known for their metallic poisons. I don't use them because they're almost impossible for a cloak and dagger assassin like myself to use reliably. I'd be better off just dumping a bucket of acid on someone. They take weeks or even months to show symptoms, but once it's there you aren't stopping it. Metallic poisoning is almost always a 100% fatality. Lead, Chromium, Arsenic, those are all used in infiltration assassinations. The long plan, make it look like an accident type. Although, there was a case in Suna a while back about the Kazekage's brother nearly being taken out by a fast acting Mercury based poison, so I guess there are exceptions. You have to be careful with that though, because it is impossible to build up a resistance to metallic poisons. There is no antidote, no cure other than ripping the poison from the body via either extreme dilution or a prodigiously skilled medical nin.
Animal sourced poisons and venoms
These actually used to be Konoha's calling card, in the second shinobi war. Our huge centipedes are still used for venom occasionally when we want to make an example out of someone and make it clear Konoha did this. There's a problem with them though. The lesser problem is most animal venoms and poisons, while extremely fast acting, are curable with an antivenom or antidote. Still, with how fast they work it's pretty easy to circumvent that. It's not like puff-adder or water cobra antivenoms are included in field kits. No, the real reason this is far more rarely used is because the last real animal sourced poisons expert was Orochimaru. He used poison in everything in the second shinobi war and it kinda became one of his signatures. Then he passed the mantle of venom specialist onto Anko (who still technically holds that title to this day but rarely uses it) and retired to work on his ninjutsu and medical studies and we alllllll know how that ended up. Long story short, venoms and animal based poisons like from frogs and whatnot are far, far more heavily regulated because of how Orochimaru used them (which is stupid, a weapon is a weapon, it bears no hold on the wielder) and a pain to get ahold of unless a mission specifically requests it. So despite Konoha's surplus of venomous giant insects and tree snakes and home to the whole poisonous insect division with the Aburame, we tend to shy away from those stuff. (Except in war time, in which anything goes and if the only thing I have to tip my senbon in is rubbing them on the backs of whatever brightly colored frog I find, I'm gonna use it.)
Plant based poisons:
My specialty! Plant and fungal poisons are many, and easy to misdiagnose. Really fucking easy. Oh you have a fever and some stomach pain? You think you have a cold SIKE IT WAS SHROOMS AND YOUR FUCKIN DEAD-
And! With the forest of death and Lord First's leftover chakra absolutely everywhere, Konoha is great for growing poisonous plants. I personally prefer hemlock and nightshade because they get the job done fairly quickly, and are easy to slip into food. But when I get to have a little more fun with the target... Datura is hilarious, especially when mixed with wisteria. Because what's more fun than killing some asshole in cold blood, when you can make that same asshole wander in circles for three hours screeching at hallucinations and shitting himself and then choking on his own blood. Anyways. There's my little expose. Oh! Chakra poisons are also a thing, but nobody knows what the fuck they are or how to counter them really. Mostly the Aburame are familiar with them and hate them because it kills their freaky bugs.

It's a trend on TikTok rn to showcase age accurate stranger things characters in every season because we know how old they are but since the actors are older you dont get an actual good sense of how old they are and I thought I'd do it with cass (and maybe some other characters idk) and I'm unwell because she was so small.
(Also I'm doing this w my own fc but still it shows u how a child at that age looks)
Tumblr media
Book 1. WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE LOOKED LIKE THIS AND WAS KIDNAPPED TRYING TO SAVE ANOTHER KIDNAPPED CHILD
Tumblr media
Book 2. You're telling me this is the little kid who's so paranoid about the world ending (how was she never diagnosed with anxiety at any point isw) and is set on saving the world and honestly anyone she can that she has a "wall of horrors" as her mom calls it. This is the kid that was kidnapped again by the midnight sun. This is the kid who found the homunculus, lost him, was kidnapped once again (twice in the same book omg) and then watched him die. What.
Tumblr media
Books 3-4 bc book 3 is the summer before the school year in book 4. This is the same little girl who's mom was kidnapped and she had to save her basically on her own. This is the same kid who infiltrated a child slave camp. This is the kid who was in a coma for weeks, traveled back in time, fought lord pharaoh face to face (like straight up face to face w the monocle scene), watched her friend be almost impaled and murdered, and though she was going insane because for a while she couldn't tell the difference between reality and hallucinations and saw things no one else saw. No. Why. She was a baby.
Tumblr media
And book 5 when she was accused of robbing a museum, her mom didn't believe her, she developed anxiety so bad she bit her nails down to the skin until they were raw and bleeding, accidentally got locked in a crate and shipped to Vegas, was practically kidnapped on stage, learnt the secret of the universe and had to deal with the pressure of keeping it to herself, and on top of that, since the secret was technically a joke, she thought that everything she had suffered in those 3(ish) years was all for nothing.
I always knew her age but actually seeing it is so different bc what do you MEAN that little baby was the secret keeper and suffered so much because of it. What do you MEAN the grown ass adults at the Midnight Sun who were literally into their HUNDREDS were beefing with that tiny ELEVEN YEAR OLD. Unwell goodbye

I forgot that I never posted her here so! one of my other cog ocs- Sierra Juliet. she's a signal jammer from my adbot department, but she left the business after some personal revelations about the company
she runs a pirate radio station in an attempt to convince other cogs that they deserve better than what cogs inc is giving them. shes hiding out in barnacle boatyard and took the idea of 'pirate radio' a little too seriously with her surroundings, but you cant really blame her for that
shes not exactly friendly to toons- she avoids them at all costs, considering them unpredictable and dangerous- but she could definitely be convinced to work with them to dismantle cogs incs stranglehold on toontown. ultimately she just wants cogs to stop being mistreated, too- that, and to live her life freely.
